5.2. Industry

Industrial production in 2022 maintained a recovery trend when
the Covid-19 pandemic was under control, businesses adapted to the new

context, overcome difficulties, and expand production and business. The
industrial production index in 2022 increased by 14.75% compared
to 2021.

The industrial production index increased by 14.75% over the
previous year. In which: the manufacturing increased by 12.08%; the
electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air-conditioning production and

distribution increased by 17.91%; the water supply industry, waste and
wastewater management and treatment activities increased by 3.13%; the
mining and quarrying alone decreased by 1.41%.

Some major industrial products increased over the previous year: food
production and processing increased by 24.47%; production of costumes
increased by 31.65%; production of leather and related products increased
by 60.01%; wood processing and production of products from wood,

bamboo and cork increased by 41.54%; production of motor vehicles and
trailers increased by 32.33%; production and distribution of electricity, gas,
hot water, steam and air conditioners increased by 17.91%;... Besides, a
number of products decreased compared to the previous year, including:
chemical production and production chemical products decreased by

60.21%; production of drugs, pharmaceutical chemicals and medicinal
materials decreased by 78.23%; production of rubber and plastic products
decreased by 61.02%; metal production decreased by 14.07%; production of
prefabricated metal products (except machinery and equipment) decreased
by 35.59%...

The index of industrial shipment of manufacturing increased by

6.17% compared to 2021. The index of industrial inventory of
manufacturing as of December 31, 2022 increased by 22.05% with the
same period last year. The labor utilization index of industrial production
enterprises decreased by 4.69% compared to 2021.
