services were VND 1,768 billion, up 8.57%; the turnover of travelling

gained 7.5 billion VND, increasing by 17.18% over 2017.

In 2018, the number of passengers carried was 4,225.9 thousand
persons, rising by 15.8%. The volume of freight carried was estimated to
reach 7,214.92 thousand tons, increasing 9.2% over 2017.

7. Some social issues

- Population, labor and employment
Average population in 2018 in the province was 846,119

persons, an increase of 7,276 persons, equivalent to 0.87% over 2017,
of which the urban population was 124,757 persons, accounting for
14.74%; the rural population was 721,362 persons, accounting for
85.26%; the male and female population was 423,092 persons and
423,027 persons, respectively with the corresponding share of 50.00%

and 50.00%.
Labor force aged 15 years and over in the province was
estimated at 556,442 persons, a growth of 2,769 persons over 2017.

The labor force aged 15 years and over engaging in economic
activities in 2018 was estimated at 553,417 persons, a rise of 1,982
persons over 2017. The rate of trained persons employed aged 15
years and over in 2017 was estimated to reach 16.8%, lower the rate
of 17.0% of the previous year.

The unemployment rate of the labor force in working age in
2018 was 0.62%, of which the ubran area was 1.73%; the rural area
was 0.52%. The underemployment rate of the labor force aged 15
years and over in 2018 was 0.89%, of which the urban area was 0.13%

and the rural area was 0.99%.

- People’s living standards
In 2018, in addition to the general difficulties of the whole

country, Hoa Binh province was also seriously damaged by natural
