IN 2018

1. Agriculture

In 2018, agriculture production faced many difficulties due to
natural disasters such as thunderstorm and long-lasting torrential rain
causing severe damages to people and property. However, the
provincial Party Committee, the People's Council, People's Committee
and other authorities in Hoa Binh province made great efforts to
overcome all difficulties and strived to achieve certain results.

Grain production reached 354,456.9 tons, up 6%, compared to

2017, of which rice production reached 207,220 tons, up 14.74%
(production of winter-spring rice reached 95,613 tons, up 4.01%
output of winter rice reached 111,607 tons, an increase of 25.87%);
Corn production was 147,237 tons, down 4.26%.

Yield of sweet potatoes reached 26,250 tons, an increase of
1.71% compared to the previous year. Cassava production reached
121,314.4 tons, down 6.61% compared to the previous year mainly
due to reduced cultivated area. The yield of some annual crops tends

to increase compared to the previous year (sugarcane increased by
3%; trees with oil seeds decreased by 4.95%; vegetables of all kinds,
increased 3.97%).

The yield of some perennial industrial crops and fruit trees in
2018 was as follows: Tea was 7,179.7 tons, going down by 4.08%;
orange and tangerine were 71,835.4 tons, going up by 24.69%; Logan
was 5,454.9 tons, going up by 6.82% compared to last year.

Breeding cattle and poultry is stable, no major epidemic occurs.
At the time of October 1, 2018, the buffalo herd had 117.1 thousand
heads, down 1.57% compared to the same period in 2017; 85.42
thousand cows, up 1.11%; pig herd 414.32 thousand, up 2.14%; 7.409

thousand birds, up 4.86%. The output of steam buffalo meat exported
in 2018 reached 3,547.8 tons, an increase of 3.17% compared to 2017;
